Werner Seligmann Architecture + Urban Design

Purpose of this website [Helvetica Neue]

This is an interim website in preparation for an upcoming book about Werner Seligmann Architect, by Syracuse University professor emeritus Bruce M Coleman—a reverential "labor of love."

In identifying potential drawings and photos for the book, Bruce had found mostly sub-standard images, especially since most projects predate the digital era, and some images date back to the mid-50s.

This website presents 35 projects likely to be included in the upcoming book and those images being considered, all of which have been enhanced as much as possible to make them comprehensible to the 21st century architecture enthusiast.

Availability of text [AvenirNext]

At present—May 2022—there is no text available, neither as narrative nor as individual project descriptions. An interim text will be posted, during May, describing "who was Werner Seligmann?"

But, since many projects predate any still-living associates, some project descriptions will need to be cursory and based purely on observation and analysis of the drawings.

Any former associates of Werner Seligmann, who have knowledge or insights into the various projects, are encouraged to communicate with Bruce Coleman. Descriptions are intended to be brief—300 words maximum.

Arrangement of projects [Arial]

The arrangement of these projects has not been determined, yet, for the printed book. At present, projects are arranged alphabetically, irrespective of project date or project type.

When dates are determined for these projects, or a different sequence is developed, we will rearrange these projects accordingly. It is intended that eventually one can peruse all of the projects consecutively, as though previewing the book.

In the meantime, recognize this is a work in progress. Send positive comments, only, to Bruce Coleman. Please keep negative comments to yourself—this is a labor of love...remember?
